It’s not clear what the 76000-square-foot building will sell for. Bill Ball a partner with Austin-based Kemp Management couldn’t be reached for comment. GL Press Secretary Jim Suydam said he can’t talk about the terms of the deal since it’s technically not yet complete. But he did say that Kemp plans to renovate not tear down the building using it for specialty office space. The building’s historic piece of art the giant Seymour Fogel Mural will also be preserved. “Commissioner [Jerry] Patterson has worked with the buyer the Texas Historical Commission and the Texas Commission on the Arts to include a permanent conservation easement that would preserve the Seymour Fogel Mural in place in perpetuity” Suydam said.

US SEC adds C job to tighten agency’s management

Securities andExchange Commission is creating a chief operating officer jobto tighten management of the agency which has been criticizedby lawmakers for failing to detect the Bernard Madoff investorfraud and other lapses. SEC Chairman Mary Schapiro who is fighting for thesurvival of her investor protection agency amid financialregulation reforms said on Tuesday that changes were needed atthe SEC. “I have been disappointed to find that in some areas of ourinternal operations we fall short of what the taxpayer has aright to expect of us” Schapiro told a Senate Appropriationssubcommittee hearing on the SEC’s budget request for fiscal2010. Schapiro said she was reviewing the agency’s operationsincluding how it manages records and its call centers toensure it meets the highest standards. The SEC has been criticized by lawmakers for missingMadoff’s $65 billion investment fraud.
