The agreement would renew a recently expired contract with AFB which has supervised the department since 2003. AFB also manages dozens of city facilities the Board of Education’s 19 buildings and ongoing renovations at Stamford High School. The parks management contract would cost $121102 the first year. It includes an annual 3. 5 percent increase and a provision for another $40000 for an additional manager to oversee night and weekend work during the peak recreation season May to September. Some lawmakers are concerned the contract does not give them enough power to reassess the agreement each year. The contract gives the city the option to extend the agreement but does not mandate an annual review by the Board of Representatives or Board of Finance.

Still as always in the discussion on program installation it always feels a bit like listening to a discussion between a deaf and a blind man about whose condition is the easiest to live with. For the sake of discussion I usually identify three major ways of installing programs. First we have the Linux method using package management tools like dpkg and yum to install. Then there’s the Windows method using built-in installers and uninstallers that install a program in the desired location. Lastly we have the Mac S X method of using application bundles (but mingled with programs using an installer that cannot be uninstalled).
