Kalam favours intensive management training for MPs

The term of Parliament members could be increased to six years from
the current five years with the MPs spending one year in a prestigious
management institutions, Kalam told the students and teachers of Wharton School
which had organised a meet on India on Saturday. Currently, the
politicians are too much party-centric, he pointed out, adding that in new
circumstances, it is necessary that they know best management practices to run
the country. Maintaining his strong support for the Indo-US civil
nuclear deal, Kalam said India has to go in for nuclear energy in a big way to
meet its fast growing developmental needs. He said as a scientist,
he must support the deal as India lacks uranium resources, while simultaneously
calling for intensive research to use thorium as nuclear fuel.
